Eid-ul-Adha to be celebrated under extraordinary circumstances: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that this time Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated under extraordinary circumstances. In view of Eid-ul-Adha, SOPs should be finalized as soon as possible in consultation with the provincial governments to ensure their implementation.

According to details, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the situation of Coronavirus in the country and the strategy adopted for the prevention of the virus were reviewed. Matters regarding SOPs were also considered in detail.

The meeting reviewed the situation in COVID-19, the increase in the number of oxygen beds in hospitals across the country, the demand and supply of oxygen, and the implementation of smart lockdown in the affected areas of major cities of the country.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the number of beds reserved for coronavrus in hospitals in all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while reviewing the implementation of smart lockdown in hotspots in major cities of the country.

Briefing the Prime Minister on the efforts made to increase the number of beds and the progress made so far, the Chairman NDMA said that arrangements have been made to add 2150 beds across the country by the middle of next month. ۔

Hamad Azhar briefed the meeting on the steps being taken to meet the oxygen requirements and the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken to meet the oxygen and bed requirements.

Presiding over the meeting, Imran Khan said that the strategy adopted to curb Corona has yielded good results while the involvement of local leaders and community to ensure implementation of the Smart Lockdown strategy. To ensure and also get the services of the Tiger Force.

Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that together with the administration, the people should be made aware of the Smart Lockdown while the Tiger Force should assist the administration in implementing the Smart Lockdown and achieving its objectives. SOPs should be set up as soon as possible to ensure their strict implementation.

The sources said that Shibli Faraz, Ejaz Ahmad Shah, Asad Umar, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Hamad Azhar, Syed Fakhr Imam, Dr Zafar Mirza, Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Shahbaz Gill, Dr Moeed Yousaf, Dr Faisal Sultan, Chairman NDMA and other senior officers attended the meeting.
